Historic Stations
Central Station's second location at Texas & San Jacinto. This station was built between 1903 and 1904 to replace the original Station #1 which was destroyed by a fire.
Station #1, built for $30,000 (approx. $1,010,000 in today's money), only served for 20 years before it was replaced and torn down.
Station #1 opened it's third location at Preston and Caroline in 1924.

Station #2's first location at Sampson & Preston opened in 1910. It later became Station 17.
Station #2's second location at Bagby and Capitol which opened in 1926 and served until a third location was opened in 1965.

Station #2's third location at W. Dallas & Bailey which opened in 1965. It closed in 1986 to create the new Station #4 which is still operating there today.

Station #7 at Elgin and McIlhenny opened it 1899. It was the first fire station built after Houston's Fire Department became fully paid in 1895.

Station #9's second location at Hogan & Freeman which opened in 1908. The current Station #9 was rebuilt at the same location and opened in 1970.
